Kara Boyer

Kara Boyer is excited to join the cast of EMMA at NYMF! She was most recently seen in WE TELL THE STORY at the LUCILLE LORTEL. Other regional credits include the title role in VIOLET, the Narrator in JOSEPH... and Mabel in FAME. Kara hails from North Carolina and is a proud graduate of Webster Conservatory in St. Louis, MO.

 

Ben Roseberry

Terry Palasz

Terry Palasz is thrilled to be part of EMMA. An eclectic soprano-comedienne, she has performed extensively around the country in theater, cabaret and opera, most notably in her one-woman show, THE POLISH DIVA FROM MILWAUKEE. Jesse Lawder is jete-ing for joy to be joining the cast of EMMA after two productions of SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN sandwiched around 10 weeks of WHITE CHRISTMAS. Previous credits include: Scarecrow in THE WIZARD OF OZ; the title roles in JEKYLL & HYDE; Ugly in HONK!; and dozens of others too infinitesmial to mention here. Composer: TUESDAY written with Caroline Murphy, THREE FOR A MATCH, FISHING THE MOON, THE LAVATORY. BFA, Webster University (Musical Theater Performance), MFA, NYU (Musical Theater Composition). His show BENEATH THE SURFACE will receive a full production at the University of Colorado in March of 2008 directed by Terry Berliner.

 

Tiffan Borelli

Tiffan Borelli (Augusta / Ensemble)

Tiffan Borelli is a newcomer to NYMF and feels fortunate to share in the retelling of this wonderfully classic novel. Most recently she was seen as the title role in KISS ME KATE at the St. George Theatre with the Staten Island Philharmonic. Regionally, Tiffan appeared as Mrs. Nordstrom in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC (Maine State Music Theatre), Marty in GREASE (Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma), Emma Crew in JEKYLL & HYDE (Cohoes Music Hall), and as the Leady Lady in IT'S A GRAND NIGHT FOR SINGING with the Ocean City Pops Chorale. She holds both her MM and BM Degrees from Oklahoma City University where she studied and continues to study under the legendary Florence Birdwell.

 

John Weigand

John Weigand (Mr. Woodhouse / Ensemble)

Joel Adlen (Composer/Lyrisict/Librettist)

Recently won the Los Angeles Elate award for his work as Librettist, Lyricist and Composer for "Emma." As Composer and Co-lyricist of "Tea and Crumpets," Mr. Adlen won the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Award for best musical score, and the Festival Theatre USA/USC Theatre Award for best original production, which toured in California and Edinburgh, UK. Other theater works as composer and lyricist include "Some Summer Night," "The Cry of the Banshee," "Tower of Babel," "Ball and Chain," "Speakeasy," "The Scarlet Letter," and as Librettist, "Facing East." As a composer for silent films, Mr. Adlen has been commissioned by the San Francisco Film Preservation for "Peter Pan" and "Rin Tin Tin," and has composed and performed for over 25 silent films for the Pacific Film Archive in Berkeley, California, including "Wind," "La Maison du Mystere," "Backstairs," Nana," "The General Line," "Dr. Mabuse," "The Fall of Usher," and "Battleship Potemkin." Currently Mr. Adlen's composing and librettist pursuits are concentrating on the Edwardian era, as he is adapting an early 1900s novel for the stage.

 

Terry Berliner (Director)

Broadway: "The Lion King," "The Tale of the Allergist's Wife," "The Sound of Music" and "The Red Shoes." Off Broadway: "Time and Again," "The Tale of the Allergist's Wife," "Captains Courageous," "Violet" and "Merrily We Roll Along." Other New York Theatre: "The Mercy Seat," Theatreworks Gala 2005, "Spine," seven seasons of the Drama Desk Awards Show and Allegro (Encores!). Regional: "Carmen," "The Mystery of Irma Vep," "Little Shop of Horrors," "Daddy's Dyin', Who's Got the Will?," "Urinetown," "A Little Princess," "Five Course Love," "Getting to Know You," "Theophilus North," "Phantom," "Love Letters," "Guys and Dolls," "The Fantasticks," "A Little Night Music," "A Chorus Line," "The Royal Family," "Once On This Island," "Gypsy," and "The Music Man" at such theatres as La Jolla Playhouse, McCarter Theatre, Geva Theatre, and Arena Stage among others. For 14 years Ms. Berliner has written, directed, and choreographed corporate theatrical events. In the spring of 2006 her six-part feature article on new musical theatre development, "A Game of Love and Chance," was published in American Theatre magazine and she wrote the script for the NYC Drama Desk Awards Show hosted by Harvey Fierstein. Recently she wrote the first annual Angie Awards Show for International Mystery Writers' Festival, guest lectured for the dance and theatre department at the University of Colorado, Boulder and served as the consulting artistic for Maui Onstage. Ms. Berliner is a member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers.

 

Bonnie Butkas (Associate Producer)

Ms. Butkas is the Director of Development and Communications at TADA! Youth Theater, NYC’s premier youth theater company. She was Managing Director at Bristol Valley Theater (BVT), a professional summer stock theater in Naples, New York, during four seasons of unprecedented growth. In 2002, she assisted the Resident Director on the Broadway production of "The Lion King." She serves as co-artistic director for Lexington Dance Collective (LDC), modern dance/theater company now in its 11th season. Most recently she co-produced "The Little Girls Have Grown Up" a world premiere of new work at LA TEA Theater in NYC. She is currently involved in The Love and Water Project with LDC. She holds two B.A.’s from the University at Buffalo in Dance Performance and Literary Journalism. She also serves as the Audience Development Coordinator for Creatively Speaking, a film/video series featuring works by artists of color.

 

Leonard Moors (Musical Arrangements / Orchestrations)

A native of Northern California, Mr. Moors has worn many hats in music and theatre. He has musical directed, arranged, and composed for several projects in the past twenty years, EMMA being his latest endeavor. He received his BA in composition and in jazz and commercial music from Sonoma State University in 1988, and his MM in voice from San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 1992. At the Conservatory, he also studied conducting and orchestration. He has written a full-length musical, as well as music for plays and film. He has also written and arranged several songs for cabaret and pop music projects, and is a member of ASCAP. Besides composing and musical directing, Len is an established singer and performer in the Bay Area. Mr. Moors is currently working on a project for acclaimed orhcestrator and composer Angela Morley.

 

Kristen Lee Rosenfeld (Music Director/Conductor)

Kristen Lee Rosenfeld lives in New York City and is currently music directing Zombie Prom at the Sargent Theatre in NYC and is thrilled to be making her New York Musical Theatre Festival debut with Emma. Ms. Rosenfeld works as a musical director and composer in New York City and regional theatre, and recently music directed the premiere of the school version of Avenue Q. In New York, she has worked with Prospect Theatre Company, Family Opera Initiative, Red Fern Theatre Company and others Her compositions have been commissioned and performed by the Second Story Rep and Sprouts Children's Theatre in Seattle, Franklin and Marshall College and the Atlantic Acting School in New York City. Recently, her new musical version of The Merry Wives of Windsor was premiered by Wooden O Theatre in Seattle. Her upcoming projects include continuing her role as resident musical director at JP Taravella High School in South Florida.

 

David Hegarty (Co-Arranger / Music Editor)

David Hegarty is a prolific composer / arranger / music editor, having served on the staff of Lorenz Publishing Company. He is also published with Broadman Press, Hal Leonard Publications, Sheet Music Magazine. As an Organ Performance major, he earned a BA at Loma Linda University, Master of Music (M.Mus.) at Andrews University, and continued with doctoral studies at the College-University of Cincinnati. He has appeared in concert at such venues as Washington DC's Kennedy Center, San Francisco's Davies Symphony Hall, and the Crystal Cathedral.

 

Chris Kong (Assistant Music Director/Rehearsal Pianist)

Chris Kong is excited to be making his New York debut with "Emma" at the NYMF. A recent graduate of the University of the Pacific, he served as Music Director for "A Little Night Music", as well as Assistant Music Director for "Assassins" and the West Coast premiere of "Heart's Desire." He was Chorus Master for both the world-premiere of Dave Brubeck's "Cannery Row Suite" at the 49th Annual Monterey Jazz Festival and its subsequent production at the 2007 Brubeck Festival. He spent three seasons at Summer Repertory Theatre in Santa Rosa, CA, most recently as Associate Conductor for "Seussical" and "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum".

 

Travis Walker (Technical Director)

Travis is the Production Manager for the Transport Group, The Cell Theater, and currently DIE MOMMIE DIE at New World Stages. He has also designed for The New Group, John W. Engeman Theater, Prospects St., and others. NYMF shows include, LOVE SUCKS, THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X, THE YELLOW WOOD, and of course EMMA. www.traviswalker.net

 

Philip S. Rosenberg (Lighting Designer)

Recent Lighting Design credits include "The Lady in Question" at Bay Street Theatre and Cymbeline at Chicago Shakespeare. Other NYMF credits include "The Yellow Wood" and "Gemini the Musical." Philip has spent much of the last 10 years as an Associate Lighting Designer on Broadway. Alison M. Roberts (Assistant Stage Manager)

Broadway: LES MISERABLES (Revival). Off-Broadway: A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM (NYSF). New York: Lincoln Center Theater, Lincoln Center Festival, HB Playwrights, and Primary Stages. Regional: Papermill Playhouse, Steppenwolf Theater Company, New Freedom Theater. A native Philadelphian, Ali holds an MFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, where her stage management credits included "WE WON'T PAY...," "THE LONESOME WEST," "ELLA," and "STONES IN HIS POCKETS."

 

David Stollings (Sound Technician)

David designed sound for MATTHEW PASSION and GREETINGS FROM YORKVILLE at the SoHo Playhouse. As an assistant, he worked with Brian Ronan on the Broadway and Off-Broadway productions of SPRING AWAKENING and GREY GARDENS, and with Dan Moses Schreier on GYPSY! at City Center and THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE national tour. David is also an engineer, whose work has been heard on such shows as MAGPIE and SPRING AWAKENING (Off-Broadway).

 

Miriam Tobin (Production Assistant)

Miriam Tobin is a graduate of the Atlantic Acting Shool's conservatory program. Stage managing credits include "The Attic, the Pearls, and Three Fine Girls" and Harold Pinter's "The Lover." Recent production and technical credits include dre.dance's "Re." Clifford Odet's "Golden Boy," Susan Lori Park's "365 Plays in 365 Days," and John Patrick Shanley's "Savage in Limbo."

 

Joe Trentacosta/Shane Marshall Brown (Publicist)
